Traditional guest lodge at the Russian border, featuring Gapahuken restaurant
Sollia Gjestegård is idyllically situated at Storskog, approximately 500 meters from the Russian border and with panoramic views over Lake Neitijärvi. The main building from 1929 was originally built as a kindergarten, and from the 1960s the place operated as a guest house. The site includes cabins, annexes, a camping area several kilometers up in the mountains, and the Gapahuken restaurant, which serves local specialties and opens onto a large terrace with views over the lake. There is also a relaxation area with an outdoor hot tub and sauna with views toward Russia. Right outside the door lie cross-country skiing trails and hiking paths, and the guest lodge facilitates winter activities such as northern lights safaris, dog sledding, and snowmobiling. The location at the Storskog border station makes this a distinctive starting point for experiencing the borderland in South Varanger.
