Wilderness camping on the Pasvik River, 90 km south of Kirkenes
Øvre Pasvik Camping operates in Vaggatem, in the heart of the Siberian taiga where Norway meets Finland and Russia. The camping site is open year-round and has cabins as well as space for motorhomes, caravans and tents. With a snowmobile taxi license, they transport guests and equipment into the forest and for hiking and skiing trips to Treriksrøysa and Øvre Pasvik National Park. The hosts have extensive local knowledge—from fishing spots to berry and mushroom picking areas. They guide fishing trips by boat on the Pasvik River, which has one of Norway's finest trout populations, and serve local specialties prepared according to Finnish, Russian and Sámi recipes. The camping site features a wood-fired sauna, a grilling room and fire pits in both a lavvu tent and outdoors. The location makes it a natural base for wilderness experiences in summer and winter in Øvre Pasvik.
