Wilderness camping at Pasvik River, 90 km south of Kirkenes
Øvre Pasvik Camping operates in Vaggatem, in the heart of the Siberian taiga where Norway meets Finland and Russia. The campground is open year-round and has cabins as well as space for motorhomes, caravans and tents. With a snowmobile taxi license, they transport guests and equipment into the forest and to hiking and skiing routes toward Treriksrøysa and Øvre Pasvik National Park. The hosts know local conditions well – from fishing spots to berry and mushroom gathering places. They guide fishing trips by boat on the Pasvik River, which has one of Norway's finest trout populations, and serve local specialties following Finnish, Russian and Sámi recipes. The campground features a wood-fired sauna, grilling lodge and campfire areas both in a traditional lavvu and outdoors. The location makes it a natural base for wilderness experiences both summer and winter in Øvre Pasvik.
