Historic country store and café from around 1900
Kongsfjord Landhandel is one of Finnmark's best-preserved trading posts and a natural stop on County Road 890 between Tana/Båtsfjord and Berlevåg. The unique buildings date back to around 1900 and were built in Russian-inspired architectural style; Kongsfjord had Hurtigrute service until 1954. Because the site was neither burned nor bombed during World War II, several of the old buildings remain in their original condition. The country store with café has been restored with high authenticity and received the Olavsrose quality mark from Norwegian Cultural Heritage in 2013. The café is known for freshly baked waffles, good coffee and sausages, and is a vibrant meeting place during the summer season (June–August). On the upper floor you will find Kongsfjord Atelier with local art.
