Dog sledding and Arctic adventures in Varanger
Arctic Challenge Varanger AS is based in Vestre Jakobselv in Varanger, far north in Finnmark. The core of the offering is dog sledding – in small groups with authentic sled dogs and experienced mushers – far from mass tourism. You can choose everything from a short Discovery Ride of around 4 km and a day trip of approximately 20 km where you drive your own team, to a two-day micro-expedition with overnight stays in a mountain cabin and the seven-day Arctic Challenge expedition. Guests learn to harness, couple and care for the dogs – a genuine mushing experience. During winter the trips are supplemented with dog trekking, ice fishing, ski-joring and snowmobile, often with a chance to see the Northern Lights. The company operates a remote mountain cabin as a base and offers hiking with huskies and fishing trips in summer. Arctic Challenge Varanger AS was founded in 2025 and is located in Tana municipality.
