It originates from the mountain plateaus at the border with Sør-Varanger municipality and flows northward to its mouth at the far end of Veidnesbukta in Varangerfjorden near the village of Nyelv. The river is 21.0 kilometers long. European route 6 crosses the river just before its mouth. Salmon migrate 7â8 km up the river.
