Sámi autumn market in the heart of Varangerbotn
Vuonnamárkanat (Varangerbotn Market) is a vibrant Sámi outdoor market organized by Varanger Sámi Museum / Isak Saba Centre in central Varangerbotn every last Saturday in August – a tradition since 2005. The market is a modern recreation of the historic winter markets at the innermost part of Varangerfjord. The stalls are filled with local artisans and artists offering everything from traditional duodji (Sámi handicrafts) to contemporary crafts and local delicacies. There are dedicated children's activities, concerts, lectures, and lively cultural exchanges where nearly 4,000 people from across Sápmi gather. The market is organized in close collaboration with the music festival Eddemannak.
