Dog sledding, hunting and fishing in the heart of Finnmark
Tanafjord Aurora Husky is operated by Tom Hardy, a trained nature guide and experienced musher with a kennel in Smalfjord near Tanafjorden. With approximately 29 sled dogs and several Finnmark Race participations behind him, he offers guided sledding tours on Laksefjordvidda in all lengths. The tours range from a short carousel ride lasting 10–15 minutes and a silent trip of 2–3 hours, to full-day and multi-day tours where guests drive their own dog teams across the plateau, with opportunities to see the northern lights. Multi-day tours include overnight stays in lavvu/gamme traditional shelters, reindeer dinner, and access to a sauna. During summer, fishing trips for trout and char are arranged, and in autumn and winter, grouse hunting and ice fishing. Tom also rents out a cabin by the fjord with capacity for 5–7 people. This is a small one-person operation, so it is recommended to confirm season and available capacity directly.
