About Vestre Jakobselv
Vestre Jakobselv is one of the most renowned salmon rivers in Varanger. The river offers good accessibility, a strong reputation among sport fishers, and is particularly suited for fly fishing and midnight sun fishing.
Well-known sport fishing river on the Varangerhalvøya peninsula. Stated fishing season 2026: June 15 through August 17. The river guide indicates a river length of 43 km and 2 pools. Short distance from Vadsø and good connection to accommodation. VJJFF states that anglers must have a valid fishing permit, state permit/fishing tax, and identification. Fishing permit and catch report must be available for presentation.
