Here you meet authentic stories from people who came from Finland before the war and built their lives along the Arctic Ocean. The museum extends far beyond ordinary walls – you can visit old farms like Tuomainengården and Esbensengården, walk through Vadsøya cultural park filled with cultural monuments, and gain insight into the fishing, trade, and broadcasting history that shaped the region. The main exhibition Kohtaaminen Jäämeren kans and the exhibition about NRK – which had its first Norwegian regional office here – add depth to the stories. The museum is open year-round and invites you to understand how Sámi, Kvens, and Norwegians have influenced each other in this border community.
