About Tuomainengården

Tuomainengården in Ytrebyen, Vadsø, is a protected Kvens/Norwegian-Finnish homestead from the 1850s and part of Vadsø Museum – Ruija Kven Museum. The homestead was built in 1851 and purchased in 1918 by the Tuomainen family, who made their living from fishing and smallholding. Here you can visit the dwelling, barn, smithy, bakery and sauna, and experience Kven building traditions and everyday life. The homestead was placed under protection in 1990.
