# Reinøya – Your next paddling gem Reinøya awaits just around the corner! The island is the nearest and most accessible of the larger islands in Sør-Varanger – perfect for both half and full days on the water. Paddle the same way back, or create your own round trip. The water around Reinøya is sheltered and safe, except when the north wind shows up – then the north side becomes a bit exposed. Halfway around the island you'll find the pearl route marker on the rock on the west side of Maritkjosen. You can get here with your phone in your pocket and good VHF coverage. Late summer? Pick berries while you enjoy the view. This is just one of 14 paddling gems arranged by Sør-Varanger Turlag and Finnmark Friluftsråd.
