# Follow the King's Footsteps to King Oscar II's Cairn Every summer on July 7th, hundreds of tourists retrace King Oscar II's historic march from 1873. The sports club Forsøk arranges this unique hike up Seidafjellet in Tana — a journey that becomes an experience with nature trails, questions along the way, and a diploma for participants. The 3.5 kilometers are easy and dry, and the reward awaits at the summit: the view over Varangerfjorden and Tanadalen is spectacular. Here you meet the white marble cairn with the king's monogram and the date from 1873. The king was on an extensive Finnmark journey after his coronation and wanted to see the Sami areas. From Nyborg he came with an entourage and riding horses all the way to Tana. A journey that connects you with an important historical moment — on the very same path the king himself walked 150 years ago.
