# Øretoppen – Varanger's Hidden Gem Do you want to experience Sør-Varanger's third highest point? Øretoppen at 465 meters is a fantastic summit hike for anyone in reasonable hiking condition – yes, even children who are used to walking. 6.5 kilometers each way on a well-marked trail (Norwegian Tourist Association's red T). Most of it is flat and easy, but prepare yourself for a nice climb the last kilometer to the summit. The view? Absolutely worth it. Summer is perfect for this hike. Winter? Not a classic gem hike, but Ropelv and Renøysund cabin association tries to maintain ski tracks on weekends when weather permits. From the summit you can continue to Partisanerhula if you want a bit more adventure.
