# Paddle Pearl at the Border – Only for the Brave Lyngøya west of Grense Jakobselv is a hidden gem for experienced paddlers. This seven-kilometer journey takes you through some of East Finnmark's most spectacular coastal landscape – beautiful beaches, small fjords and ancient cultural monuments await you. But beware: this is exposed sea area with tidal currents and northerly winds that require solid technique and rescue skills. You paddle from Grense Jakobselv's characteristic sandy beach, past Kong Oscar II's chapel, out to the small island Lyngøya with its idyllic south beach. **Best on:** a calm summer day. Bring firewood, your phone won't help here. Beautiful campsites can be found at Sandbukta, Lillepasvik and Sagfjorden. This is not a trip for everyone – but for the right people it will be unforgettable.
