# Paddling Pearl Krokneset – Varangerfjorden's Hidden Gem This pearl lies just outside Sør-Varanger, but that doesn't make it any less worth a visit. Krokneset stretches 7 km westward from Brannsletta and opens the door to a small paddling paradise with bays, headlands and skerries that are rarely visited. Here you paddle along beautiful coastline deep inside Varangerbotn – ideal when the fjord lies calm on a summer night. The paddling is gentle and short-distance, although northerly and easterly winds can be challenging. Campsites are plentiful, and many fine bays on both sides make it easy to find your own quiet corner. Remember to bring water, but your mobile gets full signal here. One of 15 paddling pearls in the area – a reminder of how much better it becomes when you explore a little further.
