Open in Komoot â# Follow Enarestien â where cultures meet This ancient trade route connects SevettijĂ€rvi in Finland with Karlebotn at Varangerfjorden. Since the 1500s, the Enare SĂĄmi, merchants and hunters have trodden this path â right up until the 1950s. Enarestien is not just a nature trail; it is a cultural-historical trace through centuries. Here people from different cultures meet, and that is precisely what makes Varanger special. The area has never been isolated â not even in the Stone Age. Today you can walk the same route and find traces of people who lived here before you. Markansucinoaivi at Karlebotn, a protected cultural monument, tells quiet stories of trade, family visits and hunting. When you walk Enarestien, you walk in the footsteps of people through time.
