# Jakobselv hiking trail – Where the salmon dance Vestre Jakobselv is one of Finnmark's most spectacular salmon rivers, and a walk along its banks is pure magic. From dense forests to open terrain, you'll encounter mighty pools where you might see salmon fishers in full action – or try your luck yourself. Start from the parking area and follow the gravel road to the marked trail. The shortest route takes you 3 km (round trip) to Førstefossen, past four impressive waterfalls and salmon ladders. Craving more? Continue up to Solvarden for a 6–7 km hike with fantastic views over sea and landscape. Here it's not just salmon that swim – sea trout, sea char and char await you too. A hike that captures both heart and fishing hook.
