# Hiking to Solvarden West – Silence and Views Await Jakobselvdalen beckons with a classic mountain hike starting at Varanger Fjellstue, 3 km up the valley. From here you follow the road toward Hareng, pass an abandoned cabin and turn right toward Solvarden. The tractor road guides you gently upward, from forest thickets and up to the tree line where the landscape opens up. All the way to the end when you reach the cairn – on the municipal border toward Nesseby – where the visitor book awaits. Here the world stops. The view sweeps across Varangerfjorden and deep into the quiet depths of Jakobselvdalen. Nine kilometers round trip gives you time to breathe, think and let nature speak. A hike that reminds you why Northern Norway is so irresistible.
