# Røde Kors Hytta: A classic mountain hike in Varanger This hike is not for the most eager — but for the goal-oriented! You start up Storbakken and follow the old approach road to Båtsfjord. Be prepared: rain and snowmelt have worn on the road, so a stroller can become a challenge in some places. Along the way you pass Jonatoppen (253 m) and Bardosenbakken before you reach the idyllic Reinkalvvatnet. The hike crosses the landscape southwest, past Tverrbekken, all the way until you reach Fylkesveg 891. Here you find the turnoff to the charming Røde Kors/Speiderhytten with a hiking box. Adamsvatnet glitters on the south side — a fishing lake for those who want to try their luck. Red grading is due to the length, but the reward is an authentic mountain experience far from the hustle.
