Vardenhytta

Vardenhytta – The Classic from Bjørnevatn Vardenhytta is a must for hikers in Sør-Varanger. This popular cabin is located east of the mines and offers something truly special: panoramic views over both the Sydvaranger mining facility and Pasvikdalen with Nikel in the distance. The summer hike takes just over an hour from Bjørnevatn (6 km) – bring good hiking boots, as the marshes are wet. In winter, it's a lovely 1–2 hour ski tour from Kirkenes. The cabin provides shelter from cold and wind, and you can warm yourself by the stove. The trail is partly poorly marked, but follow black and yellow bands. Park at the AS Sydvaranger gate in Bjørnevatn, go under the power lines and follow the pile eastward. A classic hike with so much more than just views!
